How should air compressors be maintained? How often should lubricating oil be changed? What maintenance is required for an air compressor during its initial operation? What precautions should be taken? We provide comprehensive answers to all these questions in one go.

How should a new air compressor be maintained?

Initial Maintenance of Air Compressor

The new air compressor requires its first maintenance approximately 500 hours after commencing operation. What tasks need to be performed?

  1. Replace the air filter, oil filter and lubricating oil.
  2. Inspect and replace grease depending on the motor’s condition; replacement is recommended if necessary.
  3. Clean machine units such as the cooler.

Basic Maintenance

After 2000 operating hours, a new air compressor requires basic maintenance. What needs to be done?

  1. As with the initial maintenance, replace the air filter, oil filter and lubricating oil. Additionally, replace the oil separator.
  2. Inspect the operation of valves within all compressor components to ensure these unassuming devices function correctly.
  3. Check the motor grease as per the initial maintenance; top up if necessary.
  4. Examine all bolts and pipework to confirm no loosening or leakage occurs.
  5. Clean the machine unit, including the cooler.

Routine maintenance

After 4000 hours of operation, the air compressor requires routine maintenance.

  1. As with basic maintenance, replace the air filter, oil filter, lubricating oil, and oil separator.
  2. Clean the cooler, inspect and clear components such as the intake valve and minimum pressure valve; replace O-rings if necessary.
  3. Check Intake solenoid valves
  4. Add the motor grease
  5. Check pressure sensor
  6. Check the starter and action
  7. Clean whole unit including the cooler

Air Compressor Maintenance Schedule

After running per 2000 hours need maintenance, each for 4000 hours as a cycle.

During the 4000 hours: the front 2000hours need a simple maintenance and the last 2000hours need the completely (the maintenance content as above). In order to ensure the safety and reliable operation, please be sure to use this machine in according to the program execution of normal using.

Precautions for Compressor Maintenance and Repair

  1. Maintenance and repair of industrial air compressors must be conducted under the guidance of professionally qualified personnel.
  2. Correct tools must be used.
  3. Replacement parts must be genuine components.
  4. Consultation with the compressor’s specialist after-sales service is required when selecting alternative lubricant brands.
  5. Air discharge temperatures may reach 100°C during operation. Direct contact with components may cause burns; avoid touching hot surfaces.
  6. Before inspecting or repairing the compressor, disconnect all power supplies and external air lines. Ensure the unit is pressure-free and has cooled sufficiently.

After a period of routine running, must check the level of lubricating oil in oil gas tank, oil filter, air filter, oil separator etc, and pay attention to the operating current flow, operating voltage, discharge pressure, discharge temperature and pressure of lubrication, in order to find out the problems in time and avoid larger losses.
